Let x be the diatnace the 65mph truck went.  then (180-x) is distance reamaining for the other.

time being the same for each:***

%28x%2F65mph%29+=+%28%28180mi-x%29%2F55mph%29

cross mulitply and solve for x

55x = 65(180mi-x)

55x = 65*180mi -65x 

120x = 11700mi

x = 97.5 mi is the distance of the faster vehicle, the other 82.5 mi
