whether you can have fractions (continuous).


(A) The number of people in India
Discrete because you CANNOT have a fraction in a number of people.

(B) The time it takes to overhaul an engine
Continuous because you CAN have a fraction of an hour of time.

(C) The weight of a school bus containing 22 football players.
Continuous because you CAN have a fraction of a pound of weight.

(D) The length of a centipede
   
Continuous because you CAN have a fraction of an inch of length.
