Hi,
*Note: Area of a Rectangle = L*W
question states
L%2A%283%2F4%29+=+%285%2F12%29in%5E2
multiplying both sides of the equation by 12 (so ALL denominators are 1)
L%2A+9+=++5+in%5E2
L+=++%285%2F9%29+in

The area of the rectangle is 5/12 square inches. Find the length of X if the width is 3/4 square inches.
--------
Area = length * width
5/12 = (3/4)x
x = (5/12)/(3/4)
---
x = (5/12)*(4/3)
---
x = 20/36
----
x = 5/9 inches (length)
