Question 359580: A rectangle has a perimeter of 38ft. The length is 1 ft. less than 3 times the width. Write a system of equations to represent the problem using the two variables x and y.
I know length = 3W-1 and think one system of equation is Y=8x-2 (P=(8x-2) but can not figure out 2nd equation.

perimeter = 38
2*(x+y)=38
