Question 359483: Can you help me with this problem?
In 1990 the life expectancy of males in a certain country was 62.6 years. In 1994 it was 64.7. let E represent the life expectancy in year t and let t represent the number of years since 1990.
The linear function e(t) that fits the data is
E(t)= ____t + _____
(round to the nearest tenth.
So if E represents the life expectancy it would be 62.6(1990) = 62.6
I really don't understand how to figure this problem out. Please help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! In 1990 the life expectancy of males in a certain country was 62.6 years. In 1994 it was 64.7. let E represent the life expectancy in year t and let t represent the number of years since 1990.
from 1990 to 1994 the life expectancy increased by 64.7-62.6= 2.1
4 years 2.1
1 year 2.1/4 = 0.52
The linear function e(t) that fits the data is
E(t)= 0.52t +62.6
(round to the nearest tenth.
