Question 35893: For security reasons, a company is planning to enclose a rectangular area of 11200 sq.m in the rear of its factory.one side will be bounded by the building aand the other sides will be fenced If 300m of fencing be used what will be the dimensions of the rectangular area.
answer: let L be the length and Bbe the breadth of the rectangular area.
hence Area = L times B = 11200.
Perimeter= 2((L+B)
ONE SID IS BOUNDED BY THE FACTORY HENCE, 300= 2L+B. i can't solve the quadratic eqn
hence 300 = 2L + (11200/L)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the fencing is 300 which is the perimeter
so:
l+2w=300
l=300-2w (subsituton)
Area is 11200
So:
(300-2w)(w)=11200
-2w^2+300w-11200=0
w^2-150w+5600=0
Can you solve form there?
you get w=80
and l=140
