You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It's an absolute value function and has two solutions: positive and negative.
Solve for both solutions.
abs%282x%2B1%29=2.8
2x%2B1=2.8 and -%282x%2B1%29=2.8
2x=1.8 and 2x%2B1=-2.8
x=0.9 and 2x=-3.8
highlight%28x=0.9%29 and highlight%28x=-1.9%29

The | is the shifted backslash key \ right above the Enter key.

|2x+1| = 2.8

What's between the absolute value bars can be +2.8 or -2.8 because the
absolute value bars will make it positive if it's negative. So therefore
we have two equations and unually two solutions:

2x+1 = 2.8  is one equation and 2x+1 = -2.8 is the other:

Solve these two equations and you will have the two solutions

0.9 and -1.9
