Question 358350: Question: Write in slope intercept form and standard form of line described.
through: (-1,1), perp to y=-x
y=mx+b and is perpendicular so I have to use the negative reciprocal for slope.
so, 1=1/x(-1)+b
1=(-1/x)+b
1+1/x=b ??

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
through: (-1,1), perp to y=-x
y=mx+b and is perpendicular so I have to use the negative reciprocal for slope.
so, 1=1/x(-1)+b
1=(-1/x)+b
1+1/x=b ??

Don't use x for multiply, it's confusing. Use *, the asterisk.
The slope of y = -x = -1
The slope of lines perpendicular = +1.
y = mx + b
1 = 1*-1 + b
b = 2
--> y = x + 2
