You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"a football team gain 6 yards" means we add 6 to the total (which starts at 0)

"loses 24 yards" means we subtract 24 from the total


"and gains 49 yards " means we add 49 to the total.


So we then have: 0+6-24+49 = 6+49-24=55-24 = 31


So the number that represents the net yardage is +31 (ie a gain of 31 yards)
