The arithmetic mean of 10 test scores is 90. The top and bottom scores (55,98)are eliminated. What is the mean of the remaining set of scores? Found 2 solutions by Fombitz, stanbon:Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The arithmetic mean of 10 test scores is 90. The top and bottom scores (55,98)are eliminated. What is the mean of the remaining set of scores?
-----------------------------------
mean = (total points)/(# of scores)
---
90 = total points)/10
---
total points = 900
--------------------
Subtract the two given scores:
900 - 98-55 = 747
------
Divide by 8 to get mean of remaining set:
747/8 = 93.375
