Question 356211: hi, my daughter is doing a lesson called "graphing a line given its equation in slope-intercept form"..there are 2 problems she left blank and i can't figure out what to do...how would you write the equations for these problems?......1) The temperature is -6 degree celcius and rising at a rate of 2 degree per hour? 2) The temperature is 12 degree celcius and dropping at a rate of 3 degree per hour? can you also please show it on graph. thank you Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! y = temperature at any given time t.
temperature increase 2 deg /hour
in t hours it will increase by 2t deg.
now it is -6
so the equation for temperature at any given time later will be
y = -6 +2t
...
you will observe after 3 hours temperature = 0 , y=0
...
Similarly
y = 12-3t
after 4 hours y=0 Or temperature = 0
