We just started this section last friday and he gave us an example equation but im not following. the direcions for the foirst section say that log3 7= 1.7712 and the problem is log3 49 and i guess it would be for multiplying but otherwise i am totally clueless. i would very much appreciate help!.

Remember that log%28b%2CM%5EN%29+=+N%2A+log%28b%2CM%29

Therefore, log%283%2C49%29+=+log%283%2C7%5E2%29+=+2%2Alog%283%2C7%29

This means that if you know log%283%2C7%29 to find log%283%2C49%29, just multiply the value times 2.
