3x=3x%2B1%2B7 Add 7 to both sides.


3x-3x=1%2B7 Subtract 3x from both sides.


0x=1%2B7 Combine like terms on the left side.


0x=8 Combine like terms on the right side.


0=8 Simplify.


Since this equation is never true for any x value, this means that there are no solutions.
