Question 352704: Place a,b,c,d and x in order, from smallest to largest, and show them on a number line, given the following relationships:
a-5=b-2=c+3=d-4=x+3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a-5=b-2=c%2B3=d-4=x%2B3
Add 5 to all terms.
a-5%2B5=b-2%2B5=c%2B3%2B5=d-4%2B5=x%2B3%2B5
a=b%2B3=c%2B8=d%2B1=x%2B8
So if you look at the numbers on a number line,
Add 3 to b to get a, b is 3 positions left of a.
Add 8 to c and x to get a, c and x are both 8 positions left of a.
Add 1 to d to get a, d is 1 position left of a.
From least to greatest,
c,x have the same value, then b,then d, and finally a.
