speed return = 280 mph

time forward +time return = 3 hours
x/320 + x/280 = 3
280x+320x / 280*320=3
600x = 3*280*320
x= 3*280*320/600
distance = 448 miles.
speed forward = 320 mph
time = 448/320
= 1.4 hours
