You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The perimeter of a basketball court is 108 meters. The length is 6 meters longer than twice the width. Find the length and width.
So we know that P=2%28l%2Bw%29 where
P-perimeter
l-length
w-width

Let the width be w, then the length is 2w+6. Now we plug those sides and the perimeter into our formula.
108=2%2A%28w%2B2%2Aw%2B6%29 now you simplify and solve for w.
108=2%2A%283%2Aw%2B6%29 divide each side by 2, and you get
54=3%2Aw%2B6 now subtract 6 from each side, and you get
48=3%2Aw now divide each side by 3, and you get
16=w
So the width is 16 meters then the length is 2%2Aw%2B6=2%2A16%2B6=32%2B6=38 meters.
