You can put this solution on YOUR website! One Hundred Percent Pure Gold is 24-Karat, which is too soft to be made into jewelry. Most Gold jewely is 14-karat gold, approximately 58% gold. If 18-Karat gold is 75% gold and 12 Karat Gold is 50%, how much of each should be used to make a 14-Karat gold bracelet weighing 450 grams? --------------
 Equation:
 gold + gold = gold
 0.75x + 0.50(450-x) = 0.58*450
 ---
 Multiply thru by 100 to get:
 75x + 50*450 -50x = 58*450
 25x = 8*450
 x = 8*18
 ---
 x = 144 grams (amt. of 18-K gold needed in the mixture)
 --
 450-x = 306 grams (amt of 12-K gold needed in the mixture)
 ====================
