You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let first number is x, second is y.
according to question
3x + 5y = 54 .....(1)
x-2 = y ......(2)
now put y = x-2 in equation (1)
then 3x + 5(x-2) = 54
=> 3x + 5x -10 = 54
=> 8x -10 = 54
=> 8x = 54 + 10
=> x = 64/8 =8

then y = x-2 = 8-2 = 6
so, first number is 8, second is 6.
