Question 351167: A state lottery game uses ping pong balls numbered 0-39. Balls with the numbers 20,8,7, and 1 have been selected already.
Find the probability of drawing a ball with a number less than 10 as the fifth ball.
I believe the answer could be:
10 over 36 is that correct? do you need to simplify?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 4 balls have already been drawn from the original 39
3 of the numbers that are less than ten have already been selected
how many balls are left , and how many of those have numbers less than ten?
yes , you should simplify (if necessary) ___ probabilities are frequently expressed as decimals

===================================================================
There are 36 balls remaining after the 4 are chosen.
-----
There are 7 balls remain that are less than 10.
There are 29 that are 10 or greater.
----
You now draw balls and have to get 4 that are >= 10 before you
pick the 5th <= 10.
P(4 >= 10 then 1 <= 10) = (29/36)(28/35)(27/34)(26/33)(7/32)
