You can put this solution on YOUR website! One third the product of two consecutive odd integers is 65. Find the integers?
----
1st: 2x-1
2nd: 2x+1
-----
Equation:
(1/3)[(2x-1)(2x+1)] = 65
----
Multiply both sides by 3
4x^2-1 = 195
4x^2 = 196
x^2 = 49
x = 7 or x = -7
----
If x = 7:
1st: 2x-1 = 13
2nd: 2x+1 = 15
---------------------
If x = -7:
1st: 2x-1 = -15
2nd: 2x+1 = -13
