Question 350955: The measure of the length of a carpet is 2y - 5 inches and the measure of the width of the carpet is y + 15 inches. Find an expression for its perimeter.
-Thats the question i am helplessly stuck on. How do you go about finding the awnser? and what is a perimeter? I am taking online courses, and so i find it very hard to find someone who can explain it for me. Please help. Thank you. I am completely awful at math, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Perimeter of a Rectangle: P = 2L + 2W , where L = length, W = width


So the perimeter is P=2%282y-5%29%2B2%28y%2B15%29=4y-10%2B2y%2B30=6y%2B20


In short, the perimeter is 6y%2B20 inches.
