Question 350908: can you please help me with my homework question?
Choose two trinomials from the list below to factor. Using complete sentences, explain how to factor each one. Be sure that the final factorization (or "answer") is a part of your explanation.
2x2 + 13x + 15
2x2 + 27x + 13
5x2 − 2x − 7
10x2 − 7x − 3
8x2 − 11x + 3

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Choose two trinomials from the list below to factor. Using complete sentences, explain how to factor each one. Be sure that the final factorization (or "answer") is a part of your explanation.
2x^2 + 13x + 15
2x^2 + 27x + 13
5x^2 − 2x − 7
10x^2 − 7x − 3
8x^2 − 11x + 3
---------------------
1st: 2x^2 + 13x + 15
a = 2 ; b = 13 ; c = 15
----
Think of two numbers whose product is a*c = 30
and whose sum is b = 13.
------------------------------
Ans: The numbers are 10 and 3
------------------------------
Rewrite the problem replacing 13x by 10x+3x to get:
2x^2 + 10x + 3x + 15
------
Factor the 1st two and the last two terms separately:
2x(x+5)+3(x+5)
---
Factor again to get the factored answer.
(x+5)(2x+3)

Each of the remaining problems is factored the same way.
