Note: the sum of supplementary angles is 180
Let x represent one of the angles. (3*x) the other angle.

x + (3x) = 180
.
4x = 180
x = 45
.
Definition of an obtuse angle. An angle between (but not including) 90deg and 180 deg
the other angle: 3*x = 135 is the obtuse angle
