Question 347898: Find the solution(s), if any, to the system
4x-6y=12
6x-9y=15
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 4x-6y=12
6x-9y=15
--------------
Divide thru the 1st equation by 2.
Divide thru the 2nd equation by 3.
----
2x - 3y = 6
2x - 3y = 5
----
Subtract:
0 = 1
-----
That contradiction occurred because I assumed
the x's were the same and the y's were the
same in the two equations.
---
They are not.
The system is inconsistent.
The lines are parallel.
There is no solution for this system of equations.
