Question 345880: The number of candles a store sells is four less than three times the number of flowers sold. The number of candles and flowers sold totals 32. How many of each are sold?
Not sure if this is right??
n= # of flowers
3n-4=32
n+3n-4=32
4n-4=32
Add 4 to both sides of equation
4n=36
Then divide both by 4
n=9 flowers
Then you plug in the number 9 to the original equation.
3(9)-4=32
27-4=23
23 candles
Answer is 9 flowers, and 23 candles???
