You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The teacher counts the midterm as 2/3 of the grade and the final as 1/3 of the grade.
Wendy scored 48 on the midterm.
What range of scores on the final would Wendy need to make her average between 70 and 79 inclusive?
:
I think this is a lost cause, unless you can make more than 100%
:
Mid terms count twice as much as the final (f), so we have:
:
%282%2848%29+%2B+f%29%2F3 = 70
Multiply by 3
96 + f = 3(70)
f = 210 - 96
f = 114 to get a grade of 70
and
%282%2848%29+%2B+f%29%2F3 = 79
Multiply by 3
96 + f = 3(79)
f = 237 - 96
f = 141 to get a grade of 79
:
The range of scores: 114 - 141
