Using the fact that the sum of "Complementary angles is 90 degees:
Let x and y represent the two angles
x + y = 90 or
x = (90 - y)
.
x = (3y - 26) (is also true as is stated in the question)
.
(90 - y) = (3y - 26)
116 = 4y
y = 29 is the complement of x
.
