Question 344507: An unbalanced but otherwise standard 6-faced die is rolled. The probability of getting a 1 is four times the probability of getting any other number. Find the probability of getting an even number.
So I get that we need to find the probability of getting a 2, 4, OR 6, because they are the even numbers. Normally the prob. would be 1/6 for each and you would add them together.....but I am confused because the prob. of getting a 1 is four times greater...? Please help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
An unbalanced but otherwise standard 6-faced die is rolled.
The probability of getting a 1 is four times the probability of getting any other number.
4x+5(x) = 1
9x = 1
x = 1/9
P(1) = 4/9
P(2) = 1/9
P(3) = 1/9
P(4) = 1/9
P(5) = 1/9
P(6) = 1/9
-----------------------------
Find the probability of getting an even number.
P(2 or 4 or 6) = 3/9 = 1/3
