Question 343430: Suppose that you are taking a course that has 4 tests. The first three test are for 100 points each and the fourth test is for 200 points. To get an B in the course, you must have an average of at least 80% on the 4 tests. Your scores on the 1st 3 test 83,84, and 98. What is the minimum score you need on the 4th test to get an B?

The trick to this one is to consider the 4th test worth 200 points to be a 4th and 5th test, each worth 100 points.

In order to have an 80% average, you need 5 times 80 equals 400 total points. You already have 83 + 84 + 98 = 265 points, so how many points out of the total 200 available on the 4th exam do you need to make at least 400 total?
