Question 342355: Please help me with working out this: The sum of three consecutive natural numbers is 96. Find the numbers
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! let the 3 consecutive number be x, x+1, x+2.
you get:
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 96
combine like terms to get:
3*x + 3 = 96
subtract 3 from both sides of the equation to get:
3*x = 93
divide both sides of the equation by 3 to get:
x = 31
substitute for x in your original equation to get:
31 + 32 + 33 = 96 which is true, so the value for x is good.
