Question 341736: Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance between each pair:
)A(0,0), B(8,6)
2)E(-2,-1), F(3,11)
Find the coordinates of the midpoint of a segment having the given endpoints:
1)1(8,4), B(12,2)
2)E(-11,-4), F(-9,-2)
3)J(3.4,2.1), K(7.8,3.6)1
Could you show me your solution?
Thank you=)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1)A(0,0), B(8,6)
x=(8-0)=8
y=(6-0)=6
x^2+y^2=z^2
8^2+6^2=z^2
64+36=z^2
z^2=100
z=sqrt100
z=10 ans.
2)E(-2,-1), F(3,11)
x=3+2=5
y=11+1=12
5^2+12^2=z^2
25+144=z^2
z^2=169
z=sqrt169
z=13 ans.
Find the coordinates of the midpoint of a segment having the given endpoints:
1)1(8,4), B(12,2)
x=(12-8)/2=4/2=2
12-2=10 & 8+2=10 is the x coordinate midpoint.
y=(2-4)/2=-2/2=-1
4-1=3 & 2+1=3 is the y cordinate midpoint.
Ans. (10,3)
2)E(-11,-4), F(-9,-2)
x=(11-9)/2=2/2=1
-11+1=-10 & -9-1=-10 the x coordinate midpoint.
y=(4-2)/2=2/2=1
-4+1=-3 & -2-1=-3 the y coordinate midpoint.
3)J(3.4,2.1), K(7.8,3.6)
x=(7.8-3.4)/2=5.4/2=2.7
3.4+2.7=6.1 & 7.8-2.7=6.1 the x coordinate midpoint.
y=(3.6-2.1)/2=1.5/2=.75
2.1+.75=2.85 & 3.6-.75=2.85 the y coordinate midpoint.
ans. (2.7,0.75)
