Question 33957: what is the soultion to this simultaneous equation using substion or addtion method?
2x+3y=-5
3x-y=20
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1) 2x+3y=5
2) 3x-y=20
To eliminate the "y" variable, multiply the 2nd eqution by 3
and add the 2nd to the 1st, as follows:
1)2x+3y=5
2)9x-3y=60
Adding get:
11x=65
x= 65/11
Substitute that into the 1st or 2nd equation to solve for "y"
Using 2nd get: 3(65/11)-y=20
y=195/11 - 20
y=195/11 - 220/11
y= -25/11
