You can put this solution on YOUR website! The ten's digit of a number of two figures exceeds the unit's digit by 4. If the number, increased by 8, be divided by the sum of the digits increased by 2, the quotient is 7. Find the number.
----------
Let the number be 10t+u
Equations:
t = u + 4
-----
[10t+u+8]/[t+u+2] = 7
----------------------------
Subtitute for "t" and solve for "u":
[10(u+4) + u + 8]/[u+4+u+2] = 7
[11u + 48]/[2u+6] = 7
11u+48 = 14u+42
3u = 6
u = 2
----
Since t = u+4, t = 6
-------------------------
Ans: 62
