You can put this solution on YOUR website! It is desired to draw off a part of 10 gallons of 30% solution of alcohol and to replace it by pure alcohol so as to produce a 50% solution. How many gallons should be drawn off.
---------------------
Equation:
alcohol - alcohol + alcohol = alcohol
0.30*10 - 0.30x + 1.00x = 0.50(10)
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
30*10 - 30x + 100x = 50*10
70x = 20*10
x = 3/10 gallon (amt. of 30% liquid to be replaced by pure alcohol)
