Question 339108: How would I go about figuring out this problem:
Suppose your grades on your first four exams were 83%, 90%, 63%, and 89%. What would be the lowest possible average that your last two exams could have so that your grade in the class, based on the average of the six exams, is at least 79%?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You would use the technique of finding the average of a set of numbers which is add the numbers then divide by how many numbers you added.
%2883%2B90%2B63%2B89%2Bx%2By%29%2F6+%3E=+79 x and y are the scores of the last two exams. Multiply both sides by 6.
%28325%2Bx%2By%29+%3E=+474 Subtract 325 from both sides.
x%2By+%3E=+149 Now find the average of these.
%28x%2By%29%2F2+%3E=+149%2F2
The lowest possible average would be 74.5
