Multiply eq. 1 by (2) and eq. 2 by (-3) and add them to eliminate x,
6x%2B8y-6x-9y=2-3
-y=-1

Then use either equation to solve for x.
3x%2B4=1
3x=-3
highlight%28x=-1%29
