You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'll do the first one to get you started. Please only post one problem at a time.

3%2Aabs%28x-5%29=12 Start with the given equation

abs%28x-5%29=4 Divide both sides by 3

Break up the absolute value (remember, if you have abs%28x%29=a, then x=-a or x=a)

x-5=-4 or x-5=4 Set the expression x-5 equal to the original value 4 and it's opposite -4

Now lets focus on the first equation x-5=-4

x=-4%2B5Add 5 to both sides

x=1 Combine like terms on the right side

Now lets focus on the second equation x-5=4

x=4%2B5Add 5 to both sides

x=9 Combine like terms on the right side

So the solutions to 3%2Aabs%28x-5%29=12 are:

x=1 or x=9
