Think of -3 as -3%2F1. So %282%2F5%29%2A%28-3%29=%282%2F5%29%2A%28-3%2F1%29=%282%2A%28-3%29%29%2F%285%2A1%29=-6%2F5

In short, %282%2F5%29%2A%28-3%29=-6%2F5

the whole number 3 is the same as 3/1
y=2/5*-3/1-1
y=-6/5-5/5
y=-2 1/5 or -11/5
