I assume you mean 3y+-+2%2A18+=+3. First, find 2*18, which equals 36. So the equation becomes 3y+-+36+=+3. Add 36 to both sides of the equation and it becomes 3y+=+39, now divide both sides by 3 and you get y = 13.
