You can put this solution on YOUR website!
abs%28p-3%29-2=5 Start with the given equation

abs%28p-3%29=7 Add 2 to both sides.

Break up the absolute value (remember, if you have abs%28x%29=a, then x=-a or x=a)

p-3=-7 or p-3=7 Set the expression p-3 equal to the original value 7 and it's opposite -7

Now lets focus on the first equation p-3=-7

p=-7%2B3Add 3 to both sides

p=-4 Combine like terms on the right side

Now lets focus on the second equation p-3=7

p=7%2B3Add 3 to both sides

p=10 Combine like terms on the right side

So the solutions to abs%28p-3%29-2=5 are:

p=-4 and p=10

I need help solving this equation:
|p-3|-2=5
Add 2 to both sides to get:
|p-3| = 7
---
p-3 = 7 or p-3 = -7
p = 10 or p = -4
