"the average of integers a and b is 12" means that %28a%2Bb%29%2F2=12. Multiply both sides by 2 to get a%2Bb=24


The average of 'a', 'b', and 'c' is %28a%2Bb%2Bc%29%2F3. But we know that a%2Bb=24 and c=3. So we know that

So the average of 'a', 'b' and 'c' is 9.
