Question 335890: What is the expression in standard form : a+bi ?
(3-i)/(8+i)

I attempted to view an example and follow the steps and I came up with (24-11i)/65 more then once. but it is not the correct answer and I do not know what I'm doing wrong. Here is my work.
(3-i)/(8+i) * (8-i)/(8-i)=(24-11i+i^2)/(64-i^2)=(23-11i)/65
I just realized I didn't subtract the -1 from 24 but could you please help me get it in standard form

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You ended up with the correct answer %2823-11i%29%2F65=23%2F65-%2811%2F65%29i.
