stamps from Canada =1/2x
stamps from france =1/4x
stamps from mexico =1/8x
stamps from italy =1/16x
stamps from US=4
ie,
1/2x+1/4x+1/8x+1/16x+4 =x
(1/2+1/4+1/8+1/16)x +4=x
15/16x+4=x
15x/16 -x =-4
15x-16x/16 =-4
-x/16 =-4
x=(-4)*(-16)
x=64
total number of stamps =64
