Question 335384: A rectangle has a length of 5 feet and a width of 3 feet. When the length and width are each increased by the same amount, the perimeter is increased by 10 feet. By how much are the length and width increased? Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2*5+2*3+10=2(5+x)+2(3+x)
10+6+10=10+2x+6+2x
26=4x+16
4x=26-16
2x=10
x=10/2
x=5 feet ans.
Proof:
2*5+2*3+10=2(5+5)+2(3+5)
10+6+10=2*10+2*8
26=10+16
26=26
