well $65.32 is the price (X), plus 15% of the price. To say 15% of is the same as to say '.15 times', so 65.32 is X+.15X. therefore, 115%X=65.32; or 1.15X=65.32 . divide both sides by 1.15, and you get 56.8 . The actual price, without the 15% tip, is $56 and 80 cents (because 56.8=56.80).
