Let represent the amount that one will pay. Then is the amount the other will pay. The sum is the total amount paid.



Solve for to get one amount, then subtract that amount from $192,000 to get the other amount.

8750 +2x/3
..
x+2x/3 +8750 = 192000
x+2x/3 = 192000-8750
(3x+2x)/3 = 183250
5x/3 = 183250
multiply by 3
5x = 3 * 183250
divide by 5
x= 3*183250/5
One will invest $109,950
The other the balance 192000-109950
= $ 82,050
