You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2700/3=900
900/3=300 mph
2*300=600 mph

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two planes left an airport at noon.
One flew east at a certain speed and
The other flew west at twice the speed.
The planes were 2700 mi apart in 3hrs.
How fast was each plane flying?
---------------------
East plane DATA:
rate = x mph ; time = 3 hrs ; distance = 3x miles
-----
West plane DATA;
rate = 2x mph ; time = 3 hrs ; distance = 6x miles
------
Equation:
distance + distance = 2700
3x+6x = 2700
9x = 2700
x = 300 mph (speed of the East plane)
2x = 600 mph (speed of the West plane)
