But you said you needed help solving an equation. What you described is not an equation. An equation is something that looks like {something} = {something else}. Notice the equals sign? That's where the word equation comes from. Since you don't have an equation or an inequality, you can't "solve" anything. Your expression can be simplified, but that's not what you asked.
