| Question 333546: Darah wants to print a book she has written, and then sell it to the public. She has found two companies that she is comparing. Books R Us wants to charge an initial fee of $220, and will print as many books as she wants for $8 dollars each. Bountiful Books has no initial fee, but wants $12 per book printed. Obviously, Bountiful Books is the better deal if she is only printing a few, and Books R Us would be better if printing a lot of them. But what number of books would be the turning point (at what number of books would the two companies be the same price)?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Darah wants to print a book she has written, and then sell it to the public. She has found two companies that she is comparing.
 Books R Us wants to charge an initial fee of $220, and will print as many books
 as she wants for $8 dollars each.
 Bountiful Books has no initial fee, but wants $12 per book printed.
 Obviously, Bountiful Books is the better deal if she is only printing a few,
 and Books R Us would be better if printing a lot of them.
 But what number of books would be the turning point?
 (at what number of books would the two companies be the same price)?
 :
 Let n = no. books when both companies cost the same
 :
 Bountiful$ = Book R$
 12n = 8n + 220
 12n - 8n = 220
 4n = 220
 n =
  n = 55 books
 :
 :
 See if that is true, find the cost of each for 55 books
 12(55) = $660
 :
 8(55) + 220
 440 + 220 = $660 also
