let the first piece =x
secon piece =2x
and third piece =3(2x) =6x
total length of the rope =180ft
x+2x+6x=180ft
9x=180ft
x=20ft
2x=40ft and 6x=120 ft
Therefore the length of three pieces of rope are
20ft,40ft and 120ft
